I think this one statement will sum the whole arguement up. The only thing trendier than "electroclash", is hateing on "electroclash" So either way your fucked. M Mercer wrote:>From: "IDM Poll"

what some people also need to realize is that "electroclash" has been tagged to a lot of music that's been in existence far longer than the named fad. i don't think it's fair to toss david carretta in the same camp as louie austen, nor do i think it's fair to throw anthony rother anywhere near any of the rest. rother's been making bad ass electro for years, carretta does a wide range of stuff from hard techno to more electro/kitschy stuff. chicks on speed are hardly a marketing plot given that potuznik and rehberg did a lot of their early production (which is pretty inaccessible, and in my opinion, brilliant!).... I-F, Alden Tyrell, Viewlexx etc..... these are all great producers whose music far transcends any sort of novelty quality, I think. while definitely some of these acts are cashing in on a trend, many of them have been at it for years and are finally reaping some rewards from their efforts. it may not be to everyone's taste but i don't think it deserves to be written off entirely as some cash crop wanna-be conspiracy. some of it is of more substance than others, but i think on the whole there is a lot of good music to be found once you get past the buzz words and press photos... and honestly: i think that stilleben/bunker records guys would laugh at the idea that they are trying to cash in on their music in any genuinely commercial way. m.mercer :: design + sound design :: http://www.matthewmercer.com/ sound :: http://www.mattmercer.com/ _________________________________________________________________ Chat with friends online, try MSN Messenger: http://messenger.msn.com --------------------------------------------------------------------- To unsubscribe, e-mail: idm-unsubscribe@hyperreal.org For additional commands, e-mail: idm-help@hyperreal.org Jeremy Bible www.experimediacommunications.com --------------------------------- Do You Yahoo!?
